Initiative #9 : MONVOISIN, pure local product (La Rochelle, France)

During my stay in Charente-Maritime I stopped for two nights in La Rochelle. I discovered a great Café restaurant called MONVOISIN, in the heart of the new Renaissance district.

A restaurant of farmers

This place is quite particular because it was created by a farmer in a very local concept, from the fork to the fork. This restaurant of producers highlights local products in the form of healthy and responsible cuisine.

• Healthy, because the consumed products are fresh, local, seasonal and from organic or sustainable agriculture

• Responsible, because they favor small local producers and work to avoid food waste as much as possible.

Moreover, some of the selected producers also sell their products at the Panier de nos Campagnes, a farmers' store located almost opposite the restaurant.

Everything is local here, even the base of the base: the pasta! The founder of MONVOISIN is also the founder of the artisanal pasta Bléo, 100% from Charente.

A social and friendly place

This place is not only a restaurant. It is a modern brasserie, a take-away kiosk, a café and also a workspace. A warm place to come and work, have a drink, exchange and create social links!

I really appreciated the atmosphere and the decoration, as well as the concept of the place itself. It's a great way to indulge in local and responsible consumption, it's a winning combo! Not to mention that the food was excellent...
